Grief and Loss

Nothing in life can prepare us for losing someone we love. When these losses occur in your childhood, though often not intentional, the support you needed to attend to the pain and confusion may not have been available leaving you alone with intense emotions and an inability to cope. This may have created further trauma during this vulnerable time in addition to the loss itself. Without addressing this underlying grief, you may find yourself triggered during any form of loss as an adult, feeling not just the emotion of the present-day loss, but all unresolved losses experienced, or you could feel emotionally numb. This could cause you to disconnect from yourself and struggle to make meaningful connections for fear of future losses. You may decide you can only depend on yourself and go it alone.

Grief that is not felt and processed tends to grow, leading to denial, self-medicating, and addictions. It also impacts for ability to fully experience joy in your life today. Healing for your broken heart will allow you to feel the love and joy again.
